Being diagnosed with breast cancer is devastating. I know. It happened to me . I was in shock. I found a lump, had it biopsied and then my world turned upside down. I was young, fit, active, eating healthy and living life to the fullest. I couldn't believe how this happened to me! Sound familiar? I know what you are feeling and I know the sort of questions running through your mind. They are not the ones you ask your doctor about. They may seen trivial in relation to the diagnosis but the truth is that we all want to look and feel our best no matter what.

I told a friend of mine who had been diagnosed 20 years earlier that I had breast cancer. She hugged me and said "welcome to the sisterhood". At first that made me uneasy. This is not a club that anyone willingly joins. As I thought more about what she said, I began to realize that this is a special sisterhood. Once you become a member, there is no turning back. There are so many women out there who have had the same experience that I had and who are going through it right now. I believe that it is our responsibility to band together and help each other get through it, whether we know each other or not…because we all share a special bond. Hopefully you find the information in these pages helpful and comforting. Use the community section of the site to share your experience and insight like I am sharing mine with you in the hopes that we can make it better for those who will come after us.
